LIE 1: "A virgin forest and green belt in Varna are being cut down."

THE FACTS: The area has never been a forest or a park. It is the former military property of a KEC unit. Until 2004, the area had the status of "industrial needs" and "land for specific purposes." Anyone who entered the barracks before 1989 knows that there were never any trees there. The vegetation that can be seen today has grown wild over the last 35 years of neglect—mainly shrubs, invasive species (salmum), and rotten trees that have taken over the remains of concrete structures, pig farms, and sheds. The property is not part of the forest fund. We are not destroying a forest, but cleaning up an abandoned landfill to build 70 acres of a real, well-maintained park.

LIE 2: "It is being built on an active landslide; the terrain will collapse."

THE FACTS: This is classic fearmongering. The terrain is not within the boundaries of registered ancient landslides, nor are there any modern ones. These are not our words, but the official conclusion of the state-owned company Geozashchita EOOD - Varna from 2025, as well as three independent expert reports. The stability of the slope is guaranteed. To claim that you will build "blindly" in a landslide area when you are a company with a name is economic suicide. We would never risk people's safety and our investment.

LIE 3: "It is in Natura 2000, construction is prohibited."

THE FACTS: Yes, the property is located in a Natura 2000 area, but this does NOT mean that construction is prohibited. The regulations for the area prohibit specific activities (such as wind turbines), but residential construction in urbanised areas is permitted, and this has been confirmed by all environmental inspections. The claim of a "ban" is a manipulation that relies on citizens' ignorance of the law.

LIE 4: "The infrastructure will collapse, there will be no electricity or water, and the bridge will become congested."

THE FACTS: The project will not appear overnight. It will be implemented in stages over a period of 10 years. This means an average of 20,000 square meters per year, which is less than 10% of the total construction in the Galata and Asparuhovo area. What's more, we are not just "hooking up" to the grid. The Sun City Residence investment includes the construction of a new substation, a new power line, and an increase in the capacity of the water supply and sewerage systems at our expense. These improvements will remain for the entire neighborhood, solving problems that the state has not solved for decades.

Who benefits from the lies?

When the facts are so clear and verifiable, the question arises: Why lie? The truth is that behind the mask of "concerned citizens", private interests often shine through. Are these people who have built their apartment buildings in the neighbourhood and are now using public energy to preserve their personal view of the sea? Or are they pseudo-environmentalists who use pressure as a tool for racketeering or political PR?

We say clearly: this is not how nature is protected. Nature and the city need honesty and real action, not populism.

To the truly concerned citizens: let's join forces

We know that the problem with traffic and the Asparuhov Bridge is real. But stopping a private project on private property will not build a second bridge. On the contrary, the development of the area makes the need for it urgent.

Instead of fighting pointless battles based on lies, let us direct this civic energy towards the municipality and the state.
